Dear friends

Today, day dawned over a nation in mourning. The television network showed us a terrible national tragedy. So far we have 91 causualties, a result of an attack against the very core of our society. Goverment buildings in the heart of Oslo were bombed with a devestating result, but luckily with only a few casualties.

The worst attack was launched against a political youthcamp on an island in a lake not far from Oslo. A maniac shot 84 youths to death and wounded many others. Our thoughts goes to everyone who has been affected by this tragedy, and to their families and friends. We are greatful for having our international friends around us in a moment like this.

We feel it is important to stress that our compassion for each other and the co-operation between us will be strengthened, despite this atrocius act. The theatre is an important arena for exchanging dialogue and international understanding, perhaps now more than ever.

Thank you very much all of you.

The 2011 theme is DIALOGUE and our aim are to promote peace through the medium of theatre. The name of the festival is hence Tromsø DIALOG 2011.

We aim to initiate dialouges across borders and to keep the dialogue open: Together for theatre - together for peace!
