It seems Ralf Sartori once said that TANGO is when angels dance with... devils. Strangely, this might be true. It is a dance that created itself in the lowest layers of society out of poverty, loneliness, longing for love, misery... It is a DIAMOND that emerged from the suburb filth of Buenos Aires. It is hard to believe that somewhere far away, at the end of the world there is a country full of HAPPY people who have created the dance of SADNESS for the PAST that lives in the FUTURE. The past is nearby. It exists and there is to it. And then... there comes the day when we return to “yesterday” so we can go towards „tomorrow”. There's time for destruction and a time for creation...Mary, the character of the performance, embodies tango in herself from the lady of pleasure to the loving mother.
The 2011 theme is DIALOGUE and our aim are to promote peace through the medium of theatre. The name of the festival is hence Tromsø DIALOG 2011.
We aim to initiate dialouges across borders and to keep the dialogue open: Together for theatre - together for peace!
